OHIO Makeup Artists Products, Shades, and Tips Used on almost every Bride

Trends come and go, but some bridal makeup looks will always have my heart. I've watched bridal beauty evolve from one generation to the next. The techniques change, the finishes change, and the trending lip colors change — but the goal is always the same: making a bride feel like the most beautiful version of herself.

I want my brides to look incredible in person, in their professional photos, and when they look back at their wedding albums years from now. And yes, their makeup needs to last through the happy tears, hugs, photographs, and dancing, too!

Today, I'm sharing the products, shades, and little techniques I reach for again and again when creating my signature soft-glam bridal looks that brides keep coming back to purchase — including a few SMACKbyKarisa favorites you can shop for yourself!!!

One of my go-to products is Fit & Flushed Tinted Beauty Balm. It gives the skin a beautiful, sun-kissed glow with optical pearl pigments, making it a lovely option when I want that radiant finish. I am always using my complexion duo brush to this application and it goes on effortless! I also keep Evian facial water spray in my kit. A fine mist is one of those simple things I love using directly on a brush, when working on someone who wants a fresh, glowing complexion.

The key is being intentional with my application finishes. I want radiance where it looks beautiful, strategic setting where makeup needs extra staying power, and a complexion that still looks like skin.

The Cheek Trick I Never Skip

If there's one thing I want brides to know, it's that blush deserves more attention!

A well-chosen cheek color brings life back to the face, adds dimension in photographs, and helps connect the entire makeup look. I love starting with a two-in-one lip and cheek tint, choosing the shade based on the bride's complexion, undertone, lip color, and overall vision.

My shade choice isn't one-size-fits-all. A soft rosy flush, a warmer peach, or a deeper berry can create completely different effects, and that's where understanding color theory makes all the difference.

Once I've applied and blended the tint, I set the cheek with one of my Mineral Powder Blushes. This is one of my favorite ways to build dimension while helping the cheek color last.

Creamy color underneath, a complementary powder blush on top?Yes, please!

The goal isn't necessarily a heavy cheek. It's a cheek that looks alive. A great brush to use for this application (if you arent a fan of using your hands) is this real techniques brush!

The Bridal Lash That Always Delivers

I love a noticeable lash, but I want it to complement the eye rather than overpower it.

One of my most-used strip lashes for bridal makeup is Ardell 421. When I'm working with individual lashes instead, I reach for short-to-medium lengths with a fluffy finish.

I choose lashes based on the bride's eye shape, natural lashes, and desired look. Some brides want soft and wispy; others want a little more drama. Both can be beautiful when the lash suits the person wearing it.

My rule? The lash should enhance the eye, not wear the bride.

My Favorite Bridal Inner-Corner Eyeshadows

A little inner-corner shimmer can make such a difference! I love having a silver- or gold-toned shade available to brighten the eyes and catch the light in photographs.

Some of my favorite SMACKbyKarisa shades for this step are:

The right shade depends on the rest of the eye makeup, the bride's coloring, and whether we're creating a cooler, warmer, or more neutral look. It's a small detail, but these little details are what make a look feel finished. I love a good brush and it makes a huge difference in how colors lay!

Eyeshadow Contour Doesn't Have to Mean Heavy Eye Makeup

I love a beautifully defined eye, but shades should complement the bride's features instead of changing them completely. I might reach for Rose Silk, Toffee, or Mystic Smoke. Sometimes, my Totally Beached Bronzer Duo is the perfect option for adding warmth and dimension to the eyelid!

The goal is to create dimension that looks intentional in real life and in photographs. Here is my brush suggestion for the contour shade!

Softly Smoked Eyes: The Dimension Shades I Reach for Most

Bridal eye makeup doesn't have to mean a dramatic smoky eye, but I almost always want some dimension to help define the shape of the eye.

Sometimes that means a soft wash of color through the crease. Other times, I'll deepen the outer corner or smudge a little shadow along the lash line.

Three shades I love reaching for are:

And one product I love for versatility is Chocolate Opal eyeliner. It can work as an eyeliner or be blended out as an eyeshadow, making it a handy option for creating soft definition without a harsh line.

The beauty of this technique is that it can be customized. One bride might want minimal definition, while another wants a more noticeable smoky effect. Neither has to be the same look.

Brows That Aren’t Scary & Stay in Place

Brows frame the face, and I want them to look polished without feeling overly stiff or drawn on.

Two affordable products I reach for are got2b brow gel and e.l.f. brow gel. Both have a place in my kit, depending on the finish and hold I'm looking for.

The goal is to groom and define the brows in a way that complements the rest of the makeup. Beautiful brows don't need to steal the show; they just need to pull the look together.

The Two Bridal Lip Shades Almost All Brides Keep Purchasing

If you've followed my work for a while, you probably know how much I love a good lip color!

After all, hand-mixing custom lipsticks is where so much of the SMACKbyKarisa story began. I love how the right lip shade can completely change the mood of a makeup look.

Two shades I reach for often when creating bridal looks are Nude Beach and Always A Bridesmaid.

Nude Beach is a favorite when I'm creating a neutral bridal lip. Always A Bridesmaid gives me another beautiful option when I want to a deeper but neutral option.

..And remember: the most popular bridal lip shade isn't automatically the right one for every bride. Your natural lip color, undertone, dress, eye makeup, and personal preferences all play a part.

Good Brushes Don't Have to Break the Bank

You don't need the most expensive brush collection to create beautiful makeup.

Two brands I love reaching for are Real Techniques and e.l.f. Both offer great options for building a practical makeup kit.

The important part is knowing which brush to use where, how to blend, and how to build product gradually. Technique matters just as much as the products themselves.

This is also something I cover in my makeup classes: learning how to use what you have, understanding your own features, and choosing shades that actually work for you.

The Secret to Bridal Makeup That Looks Good All Day

The biggest secret isn't one magical product or a single trending technique. It's knowing how to combine products, textures, colors, and application methods for the person sitting in your chair.

I want a bride's skin to look radiant without becoming overly shiny. Skin prep is HUGE and if any brides are reading, this is a great mask for someone who is just looking for hydration and want cleaner ingredients! I want brides cheeks to have color without overpowering her features. I want her eyes to have definition and her lashes to show up beautifully in photos. And I want her lip color to feel like something she'd actually love wearing.

Most importantly, I want her to still recognize herself.

Bridal beauty will keep evolving. Today's favorite shades and finishes may look different from the trends our mothers or grandmothers chose. But thoughtful color choices, flattering placement, and makeup customized to the individual will always have a place in my kit.

That's the beauty of professional makeup artistry: the products are important, but knowing why and how to use them is what brings everything together.
